Last night was fun and it didn’t even feel that weird that I had money on Mexican soccer games. I went 3-0-1 so I’m going again! Here is what I am betting. (I do wish I was betting the NBA though.)

2 PM

Toluca host Atlas today at Estadio Nemesio Diez Riega in Toluca (I don’t even know if those are real words. They sound made up.). Based on my vast experience of betting Mexican soccer (1 day), this is my least favorite bet of the day but it comes on at 2 pm so I pretty much have to bet it. My best guess is Atlas scores at least once in this match. Both of these teams are not good by any stretch, but Toluca has allowed opponents to score at least once in seven of their last eight matches. Sure, Atlas has only scored one goal in their last four outings (it was a penalty kick) but those matches were against actual good teams. The last time they played a “Toluca” level team (Tijuana), they hung a two burger. I think at worst we push but at least we have action with upside.

8 PM

Necaxa travels to Estadio Corona in Torreon to take on Santos Laguna and if I had to guess, I would say Necaxa scores at least once in this match. I like this better than the afternoon match because you would have to go all the way back to December 7th to find a game where Necaxa did not score. On top of that, Santos has allowed at least one goal in 13 of their last 14 matches and the only team they shutout was Atlas. I think we will at least get the push but two goals for Necaxa is not out of the question. They are 5th in Liga MX in goals scored this season so why not?

11 PM

Cruz Azul takes on America de Mexico at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City and this is probably the best match of the day. If I am being honest, I just want to be rooting for an over so that is what put me on this bet to begin with. The way I see it, game starts at 10:15, I will probably be five-six beers deep by then so I won’t be looking to watch a soccer game that goes under. Thankfully, I don’t think this one will. Cruz Azul scored five goals against America when they played back in October and have not been shutout since September. They have scored at least two goals in their last seven matches and at least four in their last two. They have also given up at least one goal in their last six matches which helps America who have netted at least one goal in six of their last seven matches. This seems like a revenge spot for America which is why I like the over 2.5 for the game on top of the Cruz Azul team total over 1.
